Samantha Lam is a neurodiverse and LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapist, Emotionally Focused Therapist for Individuals (EFIT) with advanced training in Emotionally-Focused Therapy for Couples (EFCT). Additionally, she has been trained in Brainspotting and Havening, both for use with trauma care. She approaches therapy through a non-pathologizing attachment lens, creating a space where clients can explore the origins of their patterns while discovering new possibilities for connection and growth.
Born in Spain and raised in Brazil during her early childhood years, Samantha identifies as a white Latina. Her multicultural upbringing from her Panamanian father and European mother provided her with diverse perspectives that transcend geographical boundaries. This rich cultural background, along with her experience in a bi-racial marriage raising three bi-racial sons, enhances her ability to connect with clients from various cultural backgrounds and life experiences.
In the therapy room, Samantha partners with her clients to transform emotional responses into opportunities for deeper connection and authentic growth. She believes that while immediate concerns might bring someone to therapy, exploring the underlying patterns leads to lasting transformation. Her approach honors each person’s unique journey and innate capacity for healing.
Samantha has collaborated with individuals across all life stages, couples enhancing their emotional bonds, people embracing diverse sexual orientations, and multicultural families navigating their unique identity journeys. Her background in nursing also provides her with a holistic understanding of wellbeing that integrates physical and emotional health.
With a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Certification in Spiritual Formation and the Art of Spiritual Direction from Healing Care Ministries, Samantha brings a depth of formal education to her practice. She has completed core skills training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and continues to enhance her skills through advanced training in trauma and emotional healing, relationship restoration, and sex and intimacy enhancement.
Samantha is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, #149261, practising under the clinical supervision of Grazel Garcia, LMFT #97561.
