ASW #131051
Rachel Wiederhoeft (she/they) is an EFT therapist who is LGBQ/2STGI+ and neurodivergent affirming. Rachel works with individuals, couples and groups who are facing conflict, trauma recovery, life transitions, work stress and more. She holds certifications in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Palliative Care, and SafeTALK Suicide Prevention. Currently, she is dedicated to on-going training and education on EFT (Emotionally-Focused Therapy) for couples and individuals. She approaches therapy through a grounded, anti-oppressive lens that integrates attachment theory, parts work, somatic feeling, and creative expression into each session.
Born and raised in Wisconsin and descended from the European Diaspora to the United States, Rachel learned her ancestral language – German – gaining the privilege of a deeper connection to her cultural origins. As an adult, Rachel has lived in Berlin, New York City and Boston, completed a yearlong bicycle trip across the US, and ultimately settled in Los Angeles ten years ago. By living in these vastly different regions, Rachel developed a multicultural and migrant perspective, informing her view of the world as a diverse and expansive place.
In her practice, Rachel brings compassion shaped by her lived experience as a queer-identified person, a film industry professional, and a trauma survivor. She understands that therapy is more than platitudes and vague questions. It is an active partnership with you to grow, explore, laugh and rest. Working with folks across the lifespan, Rachel specializes in LGBQ/2STGI+, occupational stress, chronic/life-altering illness and parts work/inner child reparenting.
With a Master of Social Work from California State University – Northridge and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Production and German Language from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, she weaves together academic training and life experience into her role as a registered associate clinical social worker to support healing, growth and creative exploration in therapy.
Rachel is a Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker, #131051, practicing under the clinical supervision of Grazel Garcia, LMFT #97561. Rachel has limited sliding scale slots reserved for marginalized communities.
