AMFT #143330
Arami James (she/they) is an emotionally-focused therapist (EFT) providing LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent affirmative therapy to individuals, couples and families. As an artist, Arami incorporates creative healing into her therapy practice, using art as a powerful tool for expression and recovery. Her therapeutic approach is deeply rooted in empathy and inclusivity, employing a blend of narrative and holistic approaches alongside mindfulness & somatic techniques. Arami places a significant emphasis on intuition, which she regards as our ‘first language’—a critical tool in guiding patients through growth and change, especially during pivotal moments of transformation.
As a couples therapist, Arami offers specialized reproductive support to growing families. She places a strong emphasis in helping families weather the complexities of building a family, issues around fertility, infertility, conception and postpartum care. Arami’s in-depth knowledge in reproductive and family health integrates the importance of incorporating emotional, physical and spiritual well-being, offering comprehensive care that addresses the holistic needs of the family as a whole.
Her deep commitment to understanding the challenges that accompany the processes of conception and becoming parents makes her adept at guiding individuals and families through the ups, downs, and sideways moments of these experiences. By incorporating this focus into her practice, Arami James stands out as a pivotal support system for families navigating the family growth and transformation.
Arami is a first-generation Paraguayan-American from an immigrant family. Arami’s early years were marked by a bicultural existence, moving back and forth between Paraguay and New York, which has given her a profound insight into the complexities of living between two worlds. Growing up between both lands, Arami’s cross-cultural experiences and bilingual background has profoundly shaped her approach to therapy. She brings a rich perspective to her practice, enabling a deep connection with patients navigating the complexities of multicultural identities. Her lived experiences make her an invaluable ally for individuals and families seeking to bridge cultural divides. Moreover, her insight into the intricacies of belonging and identity informs a decolonized approach to therapy that celebrates diversity, equality and inclusion. Now, as a dedicated mother of two, Arami resides in Los Angeles, where she continues to draw upon their diverse experiences to offer compassionate, nuanced support to her clients, helping them to navigate the challenges and joys of life with resilience and grace.
Arami’s journey into the realm of therapy was preceded by a meaningful career in education, where she excelled as a bilingual educator. Arami received her Master’s degree from Antioch University and trained at Family Service Center as a therapist serving adolescents in their journey.
Arami is a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist employed by and under the clinical supervision of Grazel Garcia. Arami has limited sliding scale slots reserved for marginalized communities.
