Whether one is suffering from depression, anxiety, grief and loss, unresolved trauma, or challenges in relationships, Damiana is there to provide a space to explore these issues and foster personal growth. She will work together with you on finding acceptance, creating healthy coping skills, and letting go of bad habits. She has been privileged to have the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. She uses a variety of therapeutic approaches — psychodynamic, Gestalt, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM) and Emotionally-Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT) along with mindfulness-based practices — in an effort to help one discover the happy, peaceful life we all desire.
From the time Damiana was a child growing up in New England, she always had a strong desire to help people. Prior to her work as a therapist, she earned a master’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in Animal Behavior and Conservation in New York City. She then decided to move to Los Angeles, make a shift in her career, and come back to why psychology had captivated her interests initially. She returned to studying the most interesting species on earth, human beings. It is with this renewed focus that she received a masters in Clinical Psychology in Marriage and Family Therapy from Antioch University and is a California Board Certified Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
Damiana understands that the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important and impactful relationships one can have, and she is honored to be a part of it. She believes that you are the expert in your life, and she is there to provide the support and feedback you need to address life’s challenges, identify barriers, explore solutions, and achieve your goals. Without judgment, Damiana will build an understanding of who you are as a person so as to realize your strengths, fortify them, and create a healthier, happier you.
Damiana offers sliding scale fees for individuals, couples and families.
